Boston’s best-known Opening Day passed by earlier this month with a bit of a whimper (um…Go Sox!) but another exciting launch is coming up next week when Mei Mei Street Kitchen hits the streets of Boston! We’ve got our truck mostly painted (Irene blogs about it here) and are just waiting on a last few pieces of equipment before our inspection next week. Sorry for all the delays everyone – we’re absolutely dying to get out there and are just waiting on circumstances beyond our control. Fingers crossed, we’ll march right down to City Hall after the inspection to pick up our permit and hit the road either Wednesday or Thursday!
In anticipation of all you hungry people coming out to say hello, we’re starting off with an opening menu that will showcase some of our favorite items and allow the most people to try our food while we get up to speed on running the truck. Although this menu is subject to change, we’re planning on serving the following items our first couple days out there:
KIDDING! That’s just a photo testing out our new chalkboard and ink markers menu setup. Seriously, don’t be ridiculous – there is just no humanely raised dinosaur meat available locally. Here’s our actual opening menu as of today:
Red wine braised beef & cheese dumplings with soy-vinegar sauce (3 big fat dumplings for $5)
VT tofu dumplings with sesame chili aioli (3 big fat dumplings for $5)
Red-cooked Chinese-spiced pork macaroni and cheese ($5)
Potato-celery root salad with housemade mayonnaise ($3)
Red Fire Farm Kale with lemon dressing & garlic toasted breadcrumbs ($3)
MEM Iced Tea – Black & Green and Crimson Berry ($2)
If that isn’t already making you drool in anticipation, don’t forget we’re giving away macarons as part of our grand opening week celebration! Every one of you who buys one of the above dishes – or even just an iced tea – gets a little French macaron while supplies last.
GET PSYCHED. And remember, one randomly selected person from each of our new Facebook fans, Twitter followers, and Yelp reviewers will win a kickass meal and a box of macarons! Get ready to hit the streets….
